Villa Sunset Haven is located in the small traditionally stone built village of Zaraće, which, as an “eco-etno” village, is under the protection of the Croatian Ministry of Culture. Due to the village’s hillside position a few hundred meters above the sea, the house offers breathtaking panoramic views of the enchanting Pakleni Islands, the islands of Vis and Biševo, the small island with the lighthouse Sušac, the picturesque Korčula, and the distant archipelago of Lastovo. Each evening offers exceptional sunset views, and at night, you can observe the blinking lighthouse of Stončica on the island of Vis and the lighthouse Pokonji Dol, guiding ships into the harbor of the town of Hvar. The sky is filled with stars, and illuminated yachts, sailboats, and fishermen pass across the sea. Upon waking, you are greeted by views of shimmering reflections of the azure sea that never cease to amaze, and beneath you sparkles a crystal-clear turquoise lagoon with a wide pebble beach. Another day full of adventure on the island of Hvar can begin.
In this culturally protected stone village, conservation authorities ensure that the historical heritage of Dalmatia and the island of Hvar is preserved. Thanks to this, during your stay you can absorb the atmosphere of old Dalmatia and truly relax far from commercial and noisy resorts. It is true that upon arrival you must carry your luggage about 80 meters uphill from the parking area, but believe that you will not regret it – the peace and the views are worth it.
The world famous town of Hvar, with the oldest theater in Europe, the magnificent Fortica fortress, and many monuments from the Venetian Republic era, is only 8 km from the house, about a 10 minute drive. Equally close is Stari Grad (Pharos), the oldest town in Croatia and an important city of ancient Greece, with many additional historical monuments. Even closer, along the newly opened panoramic road on the southern coast, lies the village of Sveta Nedjelja, where you can—right by the sea in a small marina at the winery with restaurant Bilo Idro - Zlatan Otok—taste excellent wines and selected Dalmatian specialties. And if you are not afraid of a fast boat ride, you can rent a boat with a skipper and take a trip to the famous natural attraction Red Rocks on the nearby coast. One of the best day excursions is a visit to the beautiful Pakleni Islands, which you can see directly from your terrace during the day and which turn deep red at sunset. From the Hvar waterfront, dozens of boats sail there every day, so do not hesitate.
The stone house consists of three parts: the first is on the upper floor, the second on the ground floor. Beneath the upper house there is also a separate small stone cottage, under which lies a spacious terrace. In total, the property comfortably accommodates 4 adults (in bedrooms) and another 2 persons in a mezzanine. The upper floor is an air-conditioned apartment with a bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen, and a mezzanine with an additional spacious bed for two people. On the ground floor there is an old Dalmatian ‘konoba’ – an original wine cellar from 1871 with an open fireplace, kitchen, bathroom, and seating area. The space is carved directly into the rock and offers the atmosphere of old Dalmatia. Upon request, a large double bed for two can also be arranged here. The third part of the property is located in the stone alley just below the house. It is a separate small stone house with air conditioning, consisting of a bedroom and bathroom. Directly beneath it is a spacious terrace with pleasant seating in the shade of a grapevine and a 250-year-old mulberry tree. Sun loungers, a grill, and a kitchen sink are available here. The terrace offers breathtaking views of the sea and islands.
Before the 2026 season, the entire house underwent partial renovation, and new bedding, towels, and kitchen equipment are also provided.
On the coast below the house (about 1300 m by car, or much less via a walking shortcut) there are two exceptional bays. The first, Velo Zaraće, is a wide pebble beach with fine sand, surrounded by wild cliffs and dense greenery. There is a restaurant on the beach serving Dalmatian specialties, open all day. The second restaurant operates only by prior reservation and offers seating on a beautiful terrace above the sea, an excellent and entertaining chef and owner, and daily fresh fish specialties. We are happy to provide contact details so you can arrange everything directly with the owner. The second outstanding bay is Malo Zaraće, located only 200 m on foot from Velo Zaraće. It offers wild rocks and between them small pebble lagoons where friends or couples can always find their own place and privacy under the sun. The sea here is crystal clear, ranging from turquoise to deep indigo blue.
Villa Sunset Haven is an ideal base for your stay on the island of Hvar. Zaraće is a hidden gem of historical Dalmatia, where you can absorb the charm of old times, slow down, and truly breathe again.
A legend tells of an Arabian ship loaded with treasure that once sailed along the southern coast of the island of Hvar, carrying experienced sailors familiar with all Mediterranean ports and hardened by many storms and naval battles. They therefore did not expect their journey to end near Hvar. However, the ship was struck by a violent storm and sank off the coast, taking much of the crew with it. The survivors found refuge in the sheltered bays of present day Zaraće. According to the legend, the captain decided to settle on the hill above the sea, where they founded the village of Zaraće, protected from storms, waves, and the dangers of the sea.

Opravdu výjimečné místo k pobytu - naši návštěvu jsme si moc užili
Fantastický výhled z terasy! Zařízení bylo vkusné a praktické. Spousta koupelen a toalet (3 celkem).
Velmi tiché, klidné a odlehlé místo.
South of Brač lies Hvar, the longest island in the Adriatic. This is an island of vineyards, olive groves and lavender. Hvar is without a doubt an exceptional island. It is characterized by pleasant winter and summer resorts, mild climate and abundant subtropical vegetation.
